Back at the beach once again, and I’m feeling a mix of emotions. After spending a few days in the city—our usual home base—I realize how much that environment can affect my mood. Being back in the hustle and bustle, surrounded by noise and constant activity, left me feeling pretty crabby. It’s a reminder of why we’re working towards a dream: to eventually escape the city’s chaos, find a piece of land, and reconnect with nature. But for now, I’m focusing on the positive aspects of our current life while I wait for the universe to align with our vision.
The city has its perks, though. I am grateful for my cozy home, the beautiful garden outside, and the opportunity to carve out a writing nook away from my hectic 9-5 office. These simple pleasures remind me that even in the midst of noise and congestion, there is beauty and peace to be found. Plus, our nieces and nephew recently moved back and their presence brings so much joy. Their laughter and energy remind me of the importance of family and connection.
Today marks an exciting milestone—I’m meeting with my editor to start developmental edits on my first book. This step brings me closer to sharing my art with others, and I can’t wait to see my work in readers’ hands. It’s a rewarding process that requires patience, but I am thrilled to beginning this journey. Alongside my writing pursuits, I get to spend time with my lifting buddies—some of the strongest, coolest ladies I know. I cherish the moments I share with these inspiring women.
Supporting fellow authors is also part of my current joy; I have three ARCs on my list, and I love being part of their journeys. While I do feel a twinge of sadness about not being fully immersed in a slower, more nature-focused lifestyle just yet, I recognize that these positive experiences help me maintain perspective. Sometimes, positivity can be hard to find, especially in today’s chaotic world. But I believe that joy is the best medicine—I’m actively choosing to seek and embrace mine every day.
So, as I prepare for today’s developmental edits, I invite you to stay tuned. It’s an exciting step in my creative process, and I look forward to sharing the journey with you. Until then, I’ll keep focusing on what I have—gratitude for my home, my loved ones, my passions—and continue finding joy in the little moments. After all, even in a world filled with chaos, happiness is the ultimate act of rebellion.
